Server seeding means real players join an empty or nearly empty game server so it reaches the minimum player count and the round starts. Once it runs, other players join on their own. WARDOGS needs at least 20 players. Seeders are usually rewarded with queue priority or VIP slots; on seedmyserver also with points and ranks.
What is server seeding?
Last updated:
Definition
Many multiplayer games only start a round above a minimum number of players. An empty server therefore stays empty: nobody wants to wait alone in the lobby. Seeding breaks that circle. A group of real players joins on purpose until the threshold is reached. After that the server fills on its own because it looks alive in the server browser.
In WARDOGS this threshold is called MinimumRequiredPlayers. The owner sets it, and it is at least 20 players. More on this
Where seeding comes from
The term grew up in the Squad and Hell Let Loose communities. There, clans run dedicated seeder groups that fill their servers in the morning or after restarts and reward them with whitelist or VIP slots. It works, but it costs coordination every day. seedmyserver brings the idea to WARDOGS and makes it mutual: communities seed each other in turn.
Rewards
On seedmyserver, seeders earn 1 point per minute during an open call (5 to 15 minutes per call), +5 at round start, ranks, daily streaks and queue priority on participating servers. No money changes hands, and points cannot be bought. All rules
Bots or real players?
Bots, fake clients or paid accounts only fake a population. Real players play the round and often stay afterwards. That is why seedmyserver relies only on real players with their own Steam accounts and checks their presence on the server itself.
Short glossary
- Seed call — A community's request to fill its server now until the round starts.
- Start threshold — The player count at which a round begins; in WARDOGS MinimumRequiredPlayers, at least 20.

- Seeder — A player who joins an empty server so the round can start.
FAQ
Where does the term seeding come from?
From the communities of games like Squad and Hell Let Loose, whose rounds only really work above a minimum player count. There, dedicated seeder groups fill servers in the morning and are often rewarded with whitelist or VIP slots.
Is seeding with bots the same thing?
No. Bots or automated clients only fake a population. On seedmyserver only real players seed, with their own Steam accounts.
What do seeders get as a reward?
On seedmyserver: points per minute, ranks, daily streaks and queue priority on participating servers. No money changes hands.
What is a seed call?
A community's request to fill its server now until the round starts. It appears on seedmyserver.com/calls and, for Verified servers, via push and in #seed-calls on Discord.
